Residents are fed up with over-development
We just had the Planning Board decline a zoning change on an apartment building on US1 and Virginia Street where the developer wanted to slip a hotel into the location and now in Palmetto Bay, plans were turned down 4-1 by their council to develop 300 apartments on US1.
From the Miami Herald: “I’m totally against this project and the over-trafficking of the neighborhood,” said Carol Vega. “This to me looks like a monstrosity. I don’t care how cute you make it sound. These projects never turn out that way.”
So nice to see some upstanding politicians.
This over-sized project would add lots of traffic to the over-burdened US1 nad it is next to single family homes.
There is another project that is to take over Old Cutler Road in that area, where the developer wants to install hotels and a shopping center, but it's been paired down to a few hundred homes. The pristine undeveloped land will be disturbed for no other reason other than greed.
Here is the Herald story on the Palmetto Bay project.
